Software and bureau services for publishers

Your subscriptions, circulation and audience data, finally in one place

We build publishing software and run bureau services for UK publishers and media owners. Same people, same building, decades of doing it. Pick the software, hand us the work, or do a bit of both.

Trusted by publishers including

  • International Wine Challenge
  • MIT Publishing
  • H2O Publishing
  • Facilities Management Journal (KPM Media)

Our software

Two platforms, built for publishing and nothing else

Most publishing software is a CRM someone bent into shape. Ours started in a subscriptions bureau, so it does the awkward bits properly: controlled circulation, audit figures, renewals, deferred revenue.

Enterprise subscription platform

For publishers with several titles, currencies and corporate deals

Avio is the one system you need to sell, fulfil, renew and account for subscriptions. Print, digital, corporate licences and controlled circulation, across several brands, currencies and tax regimes.

  • Paid, trial, controlled circulation and multi-seat licences
  • Renewals at scale, with batches you can track
  • Sales ledger, month-end pack, deferred revenue and VAT rules
  • Two-factor login, granular permissions and a full audit trail

All-in-one platform for SME publishers

For smaller publishers who want everything under one roof

Most small publishers run on a patchwork of spreadsheets, mailing tools, ad trackers and CMS logins. Adeptis replaces the lot with one secure system over one database.

  • Contacts and companies CRM, with consent and activity history
  • Subscriptions, controlled circulation and ABC-ready reports
  • News sites, digital editions, advertising and a media pack
  • Email campaign insight that turns clicks into sales leads

Bureau services

Or hand the day-to-day to people who've done it for decades

Our team has run subscriptions and circulation for the Financial Times, Haymarket, The Economist and plenty more, back in the days of the big bureaux. We still do. You get experienced people, and we run your work on our own software, so nothing falls between two suppliers.

When we joined Adept, the team worked hard to transfer all our data, making sure a smooth transition took place. What is also good is that they are forthcoming with new ideas to help our business grow. That's really important in B2B media, and appreciated.

Why Adept

Small enough to answer the phone. Quick enough to surprise you.

Publishing people, not generalists

Rob and the team come from CDS Global, WDIS, Wilmington and VNU. We've lived through ABC audits, renewal series and month-end, so we don't need it explained.

Our own UK development team

The people who build Avio and Adeptis work for us, in the UK. You talk to them directly. No offshore ticket queue, no reseller in the middle.

Changes in days, not quarters

We use AI coding tools under tight human control, so most change requests are live in days. Here's how we do it safely.

How it works

Four steps, and you're never left on your own

  1. Look

We review your subscriptions, circulation and data, and the systems they live in, to find what's really holding you back.

  2. Plan

Software, bureau, or a mix. We agree the approach and the timetable, in plain English.

  3. Move

We set things up, migrate your audience data and check the counts with you before anything goes live.

  4. Look after

Ongoing support, audit preparation and improvements from the same team that set you up.

Who you'll deal with

Led by Rob Sherwood, a publishing data specialist

Rob started out at the big subscription bureaux, working on circulation for national and B2B titles. He founded Adept to give publishers the bureau and software partner he always wanted to work with: experienced, straight-talking and quick.
